Welcome. One of the questions asked often is, “when do I talk to my kids about drugs?” We have found that there is never one discussion about the topic of drugs, and there isn’t a “perfect age” to have “the talk.” You can begin the conversation as young as the toddler years by explaining the rules around drug use. However, as our young ones grow, so will the conversation. This virtual meeting provides you with an opportunity to ask “the experts” your questions. They will tackle the questions you fear most and explain why your young person may be asking these questions. Below you will find two lessons used in our Operation Aware curriculum. You may preview the one that best fits the age group of your child or watch both.

ELEMENTARY LESSON

By the time students are in 4th grade, they can understand when something is legal vs. illegal. This 4th-grade lesson dives into this concept and the importance of delaying the use and abuse of drugs. We encourage you to watch this lesson if you have an elementary student. Be sure to click the link below if you have any questions. You might consider questions your child may ask that you are unsure how to answer. We get those questions all the time!

Middle School/ High School

Middle and high school are an exciting and terrifying time. It is incredible to watch our tiny humans grow and change, but we also know the social pressures before them. We are learning more about the teen brain through research. This research shows the teen brain goes through enormous changes during this time. When they introduce drugs to the underdeveloped brain through experimentation during the teen years, teens are at risk of lifelong addiction. We invite you to watch this through the lens of your middle or high school student. If you have a question, be sure to submit it through the button below.
